Established some 30 years ago in 1988, homegrown design agency Charlton Design is today helmed by Gary Ong, the son of its original founder Ong Ka Bio. Charlton Design prides itself on being one of the few interior design agencies in Singapore that still operates a workshop in Singapore for all its carpentry works to ensure a consistently high standard for all its projects, amidst a common sentiment to save on carpentry costs by outsourcing such jobs overseas. Over the past 30 years, Charlton Design has amassed an impressive portfolio of design works, comprising residential, commercial and retail projects of well-known brands and local homeowners alike. This year, Charlton is pleased to announce that it will be celebrating its 30th anniversary.

With its in-house carpentry workshop, Charlton Design can customise all carpentry works to every owner's unique specifications, and also provide a guarantee on the workmanship. As such, Charlton Design's reputation for excellence precedes it; many of its clients are from a constant stream of referrals from satisfied clients.
In fact, the Charlton Design Office, dubbed the "Cave of Charlton", that just opened in August 2017 has already won multiple international design awards, surely a testament to its high standards. The Charlton Design Office has won the Bronze Award in the A'Design Award & Competition 2018 and the Bronze Award in the Design Excellence Awards 2017 as well as an Honorable Mention in the International Design Awards 2017.
In the past 30 years, Charlton Design has undertaken numerous projects in the commercial, residential and retail spheres. Some of its major commercial works include the offices for Redmart and Uber, and its retail spaces include the Black Hair Salon, Bottles & Bottles and Time Zone. In line with its commitment to create dream homes for Singaporeans, Charlton has undertaken a wide range of residential projects for all types of homes all over Singapore; from condominium apartments, HDB apartments to landed homes. Despite its success, Charlton Design has not forgotten to give back to the community in Singapore where its humble roots began. Charlton Design is a supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organisation with the mission of granting the wishes of children with medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. One of the children had wished for a room makeover based on Thomas the Tank Engine. Charlton Design fulfilled this wish by redesigning the interior in addition to sponsoring all renovation costs of the child's room.
